The perfect gift - a piece of music composed especially for a special person, or to mark a special occasion. This would make a wonderful wedding gift - imagine having your very own piece of music played during your wedding ceremony!
Commissioned music is very much traditional among harpists. The old harpers and bards composed praise songs for their patrons. One of the most famous harpists, O'Carolan, composed hundreds of 'planxties' for his friends and patrons. In offering this service, Liath is honouring a tradition which dates back thousands of years.
Your piece will be a completely original composition within the idiom of the traditional music of Britain and Ireland. To hear some of Liath's compositions and arrangements of traditional tunes, please visit the repertoire page
You need to provide some background information - a few details about the event or the person, along with some hints on their preferences. Liath will then need about two months to compose the piece.
Once finished, Liath can actually perform the piece for you at your event. This is particularly popular for weddings, but has also been arranged for birthday and retirement parties. If you choose this option, Liath will also give you a copy of the sheet music to keep.
